Nephrology
Nephrology is a branch of medicine that studies, diagnoses and treats diseases of kidney and urinary tract infections, including electrolyte disturbances and hypertension, as well as provides medical care to patients that need renal replacement therapy: hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplantation.
The Nephrology Department in Arabkir JMC&ICAH is the largest in Armenia. It provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary inpatient and outpatient services for infants, children and adults. It is the only Department in Armenia providing specialized Hemodialysis and Kidney biopsy for children and kidney transplantation for children and adults. The Department is the unique one in Armenia with the focus on Urolithiasis. Our experts are among the leading specialists in the field in Armenia, they are regularly trained in Armenia and foreign countries, participate in international workshops and seminars to keep abreast of recent developments and innovations in the sphere. The Nephrology Department also provides nephrology, dialysis and transplantation trainings to medical students, residents and fellows.
The Department conducts research in the following areas: Urinary Tract infection, Obstructive Uropathy, Congenital malformations, Urolithiasis, Familial Mediterranean Fever, Renal biopsy, Glomerulonephritides, Renal transplantation, Nephrotic syndrome.
