Dermatology
Dermatology is a branch of medicine that studies congenital and acquired skin diseases, as well as the causes of the sexually transmitted diseases and is aimed at their diagnostics and treatment.
The pediatric dermatology in Armenia was founded in 1971 by E. Y. Danielyan. The department joined Arabkir JMC&ICAH in 1989 and is the only one in Armenia. The department provides specialized services to children and adolescents under 18. The medical staff of the department has been trained at the Dermatology Centers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev.
M.Heratsi Yerevan State Medical University students and residents are trained at the division.
Specialty Areas
The specialized services provided by the department are aimed at the following:
- skin diseases: ichthyosis, hyperkeratosis follicularis, psoriasis, lichen ruber planus, etc.
- bullous dermatosis: pemphigus vulgaris, congenital epidermolysis bullosa, dermatitis herpetiformis (Duhring's disease),
- allergic dermatitis and neurodermatosis: atopic dermatitis, neurodermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema, heat rush
- skin pigmentation disorders: vitiligo, nevus
- different types of alopecia,
- viral diseases: herpes simplex and herpes zoster, molluscum contagiousum, warts
- streptococcal and staphylococcal impetigo: acne vulgaris, folliculitis, furuncle
- keratomycoses: pityriasis versicolor, erythrasma
