Aparan Summer Recreation Camp
One of the objectives of “Arabkir” JMC&ICAH is to ensure quality, efficient treatment and care for children with special needs and chronic diseases. The establishment of Aparan Summer Recreation Camp is one of the achievements of “Arabkir” JMC&ICAH in ensuring quality, efficient treatment and care for children with special needs and chronic diseases.
Aparan Summer Recreation Camp is the only facility in Armenia, where the summer vacation of children with chronic diseases, physical and mental development problems, as well as children, who need continuous treatment is organized without stopping their treatment. The above-mentioned health problems and diseases include endocrinological, rheumatological, gastroenterological, audiologic, nephrological, allergological, neurological diseases and mental health problems, including diabetes, epilepsy, infantile cerebral palsy, autism, Familial Mediterranean Fever, etc.
The Recreation Camp is located in the picturesque area of Aparan reservoir. It is furnished with all the necessary facilities: a summer canteen, playing ground for volley-ball, a playground and a beautiful park equipped for kids, to ensure summer recreation of 8 to14-year-old 120 children a year for free. The Camp has comfortable, well-furnished houses and a specially equipped swimming pool for children with special needs. Children are provided with meals four times a day in accordance with a diet prescribed by a pediatrician and a nutritionist.
Children are under constant care of specially trained, highly qualified skilled medical personnel as well as special educators and psychologists. The pastime at the Camp becomes more interesting due to different activities and group-work: drawing, swimming, hiking, dancing and music, group intellectual games and exercises. The Camp ensures a perfect environment for the children, who are deprived of the opportunity to socialize with their peers and to make friends. The unique and contributing atmosphere is created by Armenian and foreign volunteers, and light-hearted laughter of children is ever present at the Camp.
As a result, children make new friends, develop necessary skills for socializing and everyday life, become more confident, and that greatly contributes to their further social integration.
