On August 18, 2009 a nice event dedicated to the closure of 2009 summer season at Aparan Summer Recreation Camp took place. The event started with the speech of Spartak Ghazaryan, Arabkir JMC&ICAH and was followed by performance prepared by the children having their summer vacation at the camp, with the help of special educators.

Every year the Recreation Camp opens its welcoming doors to 8 to14-year-old 120 children with special needs. Located in the picturesque area of Aparan reservoir, it is furnished with all the necessary facilities: a summer canteen, playing ground for volley-ball, a playground and a beautiful park equipped for kids, to ensure summer recreation of children with special needs for free.  Aparan   Summer   Recreation   Camp   is   the   only   facility  in  Armenia, where  the  summer  vacation  of  children  with  chronic  diseases, physical and   mental   development   problems,   as  well  as  children, who    need continuous   treatment   is   organized   without   stopping their   treatment. The above-mentioned health problems and diseases include endocrinological, rheumatological, gastroenterological, audiologic, nephrological, allergological, neurological diseases, including diabetes, epilepsy, infantile cerebral palsy, autism, Familial Mediterranean Fever, etc.

 

On April 11 the inauguration of the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center (CDRC) in the town of Ijevan, Tavush marz took place. The CDRC is the branch of Arabkir JMC&ICAH, which provides specialized medical rehabilitation services and care to children with physical, mental, hearing, speech, behavioral and other developmental problems residing in Tavush marz.

The CDRC in Ijevan is the sixth among the branches of Arabkir JMC&ICAH functioning in the Marzes of Armenia, ensuring the access of children with special needs to specialized medical care in Marzes. The CDRCs function in the following towns of Armenia: Spitak, Vanadzor, Gyumri, Armavir, and Gavar.

The high-ranking officials of the RA National Assembly, Government as well as representatives of Tavush marzpetaran (marz administration), foreign partners, representatives of local and international NGOs, donor organizations were present at the event.

The construction of the CRDC in Ijevan was sponsored by Armenianos Foundation (Lichtenstein), KASA Charitable Foundation, Switerland, Arabkir UCCF, the Agency for International Development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark through Mission East Relief  and Development Organization (Denmark), Tertzakyan family (Argentia).

 

April 10, 2009 marked the 10-th anniversary of ArBeS Health Care Center (ArBeS HCC). Many guests and partners joined the Health Care Center in celebration of its anniversary, which started with a press conference.

Ara Babloyan, the scientific director of Arabkir JMC&ICAH, Manushak Yeritsyan, the director of ArBeS HCC, Jean-Pierre Bernhardt, Chair of the Arabkir UCCF Board of Trustees and Director of SEMRA Foundation, Switzerland, Jean-Pierre Van Waeleghem, UCCF Board member and President of NAF Association , Aida Matosyan, SOS-Armenie (Belgium) representative presented the activities carried out by the Center within the 10-year period.

The press conference was followed by the film, which presented the Center from the very beginning of its construction to the present. A nice performance with a very touching song about ArBeS and dances was prepared by the children provided by the services at the Center.

The staff members, whose efficient and hard work made a valuable contribution in the establishment of the Center, were awarded with certificates. Certificates were also granted to the organizations, which have been supporting the organizations from the very beginning up to the present.

 

On December 26, 2008 “Arabkir” JMC-ICAH received “The Future is Yours” NGO team, which initiated a touching event, giving New Year presents to the children and their mothers at the Infant Department. The event initiated by “The Future is Yours” NGO created a unique and joyful atmosphere at the department for children under 1.

 

On December 24 Arabkir United Children Charity Foundation made a New Year surprise in order for children with special needs to shine with festive mood and smiles. The children receiving treatment at ArBeS Health Care Center, Child Development and Rehabilitation Centers in Marzes, the branches of Arabkir JMC&ICAH as well as Child Audiology Center functioning within Arabkir JMC&ICAH were presented with toys, which were donated by United Armenian Fund of America within the framework of their regular charity activities.

 

“On the way of ensuring equal opportunities” exposition took place on December 3, 2008. Arabkir JMC was also present at the exposition presenting its services and educational materials as well as activities aimed at children with special needs. The exposition was organized by RA Ministry of Labor and Social Issues.

The doctors of Arabkir JMC delivered presentations at the first National Conference of Pediatricians that took place on November 21-22, 2008. The Conference was organized on the initiative of the Armenian Association of Pediatricians and with the support of the RA Ministry of Health, Yerevan Mkhitar Heratsi State Medical University, RA MoH National Institute of Health. The first National Conference of Pediatricians was dedicated to 75-th anniversary of V.A. Astavatsatryan, one of the founders of pediatrics in Armenia. Within the framework of the Conference challenges, as well as recent developments and studies in the field of pediatrics were presented and discussed. The experts from the leading medical hospitals in Switzerland and Russia delivered lectures.
